Netherlands Tax HavenIn a very unprecedented move which could signify a significant a positive milestone in International corporate tax transparency 64 Dutch companies have accepted to be subjected to public scrutiny over their tax policies and practices.

Over the past years, there has been mounting global and public pressure towards tax transparency, with multinational companies listed in low tax jurisdictions like the Netherlands being pressured to come clean on their tax practices.

The Dutch Association of Investors for sustainable development (VBDO) in December 2015 released its first tax transparency benchmark report covering 64 publicly listed companies registered in the Netherlands.  The report followed a tax transparency benchmarking study conducted by VBDO but funded by the Dutch government

The study ranks the 64 multinational companies on the transparency they provide in their responsible tax policies and its implementation. On average the companies score only 9 (21%) out of 36 points. This shows that also positive steps were being made towards transparency, there were efforts that needed to be pursued.
